Take a look at this sweet downtown St. Petersburg Engagement session with Gabby and Nick. The two have been dating since as long as I can even remember, I went to high school with the two lovebirds and they have been inseparable for the entire time I’ve known them. We are lucky enough to be able to shoot their wedding THIS MARCH in Largo + Clearwater Beach, Florida. We started off the session strolling through Downtown St. Petersburg’s North Straub Park where it’s quite common to run into at least twelve other photographers doing the same thing! Downtown St. Petersburg has become the hot spot in Pinellas county for engagement sessions.
After taking some photos in the park as well as right by the marina we made our way to the Dalí Museum on Beach Drive in St. Petersburg. It’s super easy to stumble upon cute spots and nice walls right off of Central Avenue in St. Pete so we headed over to the Morean Art Museum to take some photos with the ever popular “You Are My Sunshine” mural right on the corner of Central Avenue and 7th St. N! This is definitely a repeat spot, so many couples want this cute mural to be a part of their engagement session and I’m 100% okay with that!
Gabby and Nick were a dream to shoot with, when the two weren’t cracking jokes or laughing at each other, I was laughing myself… and sometimes at myself. I always try to make engagement sessions a little more exciting than just snapping some photos. So far it’s worked for me – I typically end up making horrible jokes, puns, or fart jokes. In addition to those terrible jokes I practically force each couple to whisper ridiculous things in each other’s ears – as you can see below I think that technique works very well. The moral of this story is that I have the sweetest of couples and Downtown St. Petersburg is an absolute dream to shoot in, if you are considering an engagement session I highly recommend 1. booking Sea Shack Photo + Films, DUH, 2. exploring the heck out of your downtown area, and 3. don’t take everything seriously! Engagement sessions are all about you and your partner’s love and your photos should reflect your relationship. We can’t wait until Gabby + Nick’s wedding day, and we hope to shoot your wedding one day too 😉
